What changes the price
- Window size
- Bigger windows need more fabric and a sturdier roller. A small bathroom window costs less than a wide living room window.
- Fabric
- Light-filtering, solar screen and blackout fabrics are priced differently, and designer fabrics cost more.
- Fascia or valance
- A cover over the roller adds a finished look and a small cost per window.
- Installation
- Tile, stone or concrete, windows more than 10 feet up, and bay or corner windows take more time and add to the install cost.
- Motorization
- Adding a motor is priced per shade. We quote it next to the manual price at your visit.
Shutters, blinds and other shades
Plantation shutters, cellular shades, faux wood blinds, vertical blinds and woven wood shades are priced at your free measure, based on your exact windows. You get a firm written price before anything is ordered.
Quotes and deposits
Your written quote is good for 15 days. To order, we take a deposit of 10% of the job (never more than $1,000), and the balance is due at installation.

Pricing questions
Why do custom shades cost more than store-bought blinds?+
Store-bought blinds come in a few standard sizes, so they rarely fit exactly, and you install them yourself. Custom shades are cut to each window and installed by a licensed pro.
